Marine Warranty Surveying

Marine operations carry significant risks, requiring underwriters to rely on the expertise of Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS) for technical risk assessment and independent verification. Acting as the eyes and ears of underwriters and claims adjusters, the MWS reviews the technical and operational aspects of marine projects to support risk decisions and issue certificates of approval.

This course covers the different types of warranty surveys and the role of the MWS in the industry. You will learn about warranty types and legal aspects, London market joint committees, codes of practice, required outcomes, and surveyors’ liability. The program also covers port risk surveys, lay-up and reactivation surveys, tow approvals, stowage of deck and project cargoes, port and terminal surveys, shipyard risk assessments, and warranties in offshore operations, including mooring, rig lay-ups, and wind farm projects.
